Thread Cards

Yesterday, I spend some time wrapping gorgeous silk ribbon around thread cards. Now, they are neatly lined up in a small box, instead of squished into baggies. I have a few more to go...but thought that you might find a use for these thread cards yourself.
The graphic are cropped and combined; their original source is the Graphics Fairy website. Mine have my initials in the little pink circle...but thought you could use that space to put the color number. There is also a little white box below this circle to write the thread color name.
Open a word document and paste/place the photo file there...spread it to fill the page and print. These are obviously in color, although I printed mine in black and white onto card stock paper. I then glued a second piece of card stock to the back to make it stronger for wrapping. Enjoy!

My Muse is Like a Crow...

because she is attracted to Shiny Things. Even though I have a ton of writing and sewing to do these next few weeks...she would not let me really get going on anything...because she wanted to handle some gorgeous beads. So, I pulled out some Czech Glass Buttons and started to work.

These are cobalt blue...and just simply take my breath away they are so pretty close up. The sheen reminds me of rich velvet it is so opulent!

These set the bar extra high for the Bling factor...and the heavily beaded gold one will be a great addition to a gold work project I'm thinking...and the seed beads on it are 24K gold. That's why it shines so!

These are just pure fun...and will make great motifs on crazy quilt blocks.
Some of these are headed off to CrazyQuiltingSupplies for Thearica to add to her inventory of beaded cabochons. But, you can always go there and get the Czech Glass Buttons before any beading...and do your own. Just hop on over and take the Beaded Cabochon Class now offered at Maureen's as a take-it-anytime class...just check out her class page at MaureensVintageAcquisitions. It is easy to understand because I've included tons of color charts and her kit offered is the exact same cabochons in the photos for the class...no guess work!

CQ Block Finished

I started a new CQ block while at Retreat last weekend...and got some stitching and lace put down. But, not much further than that...so when I got home (after laundry and stuff) I've been trying to finish it up. And, it is done...of course since it is one of nine...and the first one at that...I still have a ways to go. But, here it is finished...and before beads (above)...
and closeups...hope you enjoy and try some of the seams yourself!

Paper Piecing Flower

I have a few paper pieced blocks to get done today...and drew up this little PP Flower. Thought you might enjoy it too. Here is the block finished.
You can print...then enlarge or reduce to any size you like. Use as a single block, or put four together with the #12 piece pointing towards the center for a pretty floral four-star block.
I'm working with 4-inch blocks (4 1/2" with seam allowance)...and here are the sizes for each fabric piece. I measure from top to bottom using the seam line as my top...and I add a generous 1/4 to 1/2 inch to all sides to make sure that I have a large enough piece of fabric for each section when I begin piecing. I stack cut fabric pieces by number...for each block so that when I start sewing...I don't have to stop to determine which piece is the next one. The stack is in numerical order according to the pattern...hope that makes since. For example, if I'm making six blocks...I would have six stacks of little pieces of fabric...each having the necessary twelve pieces to do the pattern...and each stack having #1 piece on top and #12 piece on bottom with the others in numerical order.
GREEN
#7 = 1.5 x 3.5 inches
#10 = 3.0 x 1.5 inches
#12 = 4.0 x 2.5 inches
WHITE
#2 = 2.0 x 3.0 inches
#3 = 2.75 x 3.25 inches
#6 = 15 x 3.5 inches
#8 - 2.75 x 1.75 inches
#9 = 3.5 x 1.5 inches
#11 = 3.0 x 1.25 inches
PINK
# 1 = 2.0 x 3.0 inches
BLUE
#4 = 3.0 x 1.5 inches
#5 = 4.0 x 1.75 inches
Enjoy!

I know that it's still a little early...but the 13th will be here before you know it! Thought you might enjoy a little monogram design...use the flowers at the start and end if you like...or do your own embellishment. Enlarge to the size you need.
I think an embroidery in the center of a lovely little Crazy Quilt Pillow would make a nice little giftee!
Let's see if I can make that happen for my own Mom!
If you need a different family endearment for Mother...just sent me a comment, and I'll post it here.
