Pretty Fairy Silkies

Saturday, the postman brought me these beautiful little silkie mermaids...I'm going to have loads of fun creating with these as my inspiration! Thank you Annette for such a delightful surprise. If you have not seen Annette's work before, check out her website...she is a very talented artist!

Her gift inspired me to finishe up a little giftee for a friend. Four little pillows to adorn a shelf, fill a basket, or sprinkle over a bedspread. The words are from my Aussie pal Jenny's blog...Elefantz.

Fabric Samples

If you have a furniture store or an interior design company that is located close to you...ask about getting their out-dated sample books for fabric samples.
I was lucky and had a friend that was donating a lot this past week...and I got first selection because we were riding together. And, it's a good thing too...because with all of the luggage we all had, the entire load would not have fit in the truck!
Some of the motifs are large, and some fabrics are really thick...but, most of them can be used for crazy quilt work...and if not for that...then for purses or tote bags!

Cuddlies...

I've been doing more embroidery lately...but now have to switch gears. Another family baby shower is coming up and I'll be doing a couple
of quick baby blankets for that.
My nieces asked for Minkie fabric. She didn't want blue...so I ordered a chocolate brown and mint green stripe paired with a paisley poly in the same colorway....
and a solid mint green...with lighter paisley print.
Have you ever worked with Minkie before? It is super, super soft...much more so than flannel. But, it is synthetic...and slippery as all get out to sew!
That's why I've been putting this "task" off until last minute!
And, here is the other "cuddly" in my house...my protector!
