TAST #10 - Running Stitch

Here is my little photo of the running stitch. Notice anything funny? Yep, it's the Back Side! I put the glue on the wrong side of the fabric...i.e. the FRONT! Geez! But, the odd thing about a running stitch...is that on the back, it still is a running stitch! So, hey...it's not as pretty as the front was...but I still know what it is...so, I'm not re-doing these stitches. AND, hey...now you have something to tease me about too! Ha!
And this little stitch got me to thinking about a project that was done some time ago, and the style could be suited to a running stitch, or a straight stitch, or a wrap stitch since it is on canvas. Thought I'd ask "forgiveness" by sharing this photo as well!
There, that a much better inspirational picture!

TAST #9 - Couching

This is a little stitch that I sometimes forget about. And it would be so easy to add more movement and interest to crazy quilt blocks with just some simple cording couched down. I really have to remember this more often. Perhaps, my little books of TAST stitches will be a good reminder...since I'm entering my "old age" era!

TAST #8 - Chain Stitch

Trying to play a little "catch up" after two very busy weeks!
Here is my chain stitch. A little chain stitch rose, and a couple of rows.
I use the chain stitch often as my base row for crazy quilt seams.

TAST #7 - Detached Chain

Just in time to start next weeks...I finished this week!

Edited: Okay I screwed up some..."detached" means just that. and the bottom two rows of stitching are NOT detached. But, hey...that's okay.

TAST - Week 6 - Chevron Stitch

Another great base stitch. On the bottom, I was wondering how it would look to have one wide stitch and one narrow stitch...but the same height. Looks like chicken scratch!

TAST - Week 5 - Herringbone Stitch

LOVE this stitch, and I use it a lot for base seams. I tried to stitch the top row as a tall stitch and got shorter at the end. I wish that I had made the tall end...much taller...but, hopefully, I'll remember what my thought process was when I look at this again...and won't just think that I was "wonky" when I stitched this!

TAST - Week 4 - Cretan Stitch

I really love the way this stitch looks...but just hate stitching it. I hope that with more practice, I'll begin to enjoy the experience because it is just wonderful on crazy quilt seams! And, I'm having a hard time with this linen, the count is so small that I can not see it well...and am just free-handing the seams. Think I'll be changing to Aida after these pieces of linen are all used up (since I've already cut a couple of dozen rectangles out!).

TAST Week 3 - Feather Stitch

Week 3 of Take A Stitch Tuesday Challenge is complete! This is my favorite stitch to work with! Well, other my old favorites the Straight, French Knot, and Detached Chain Stitches. But, the Feather Stitch is the first "new" stitch that I learned....and can do it free hand and keep it straight! Yeah!
It is perfect for seams when done in green...just add little beads, French knots, or Detached Chain between the "V" areas to create little flower buds. Very effective with 4mm silk ribbon Lazy Daisy (detached chain) stitches!
But, my most favorite use is as Undersea plant life!
See, can't you just imagine little fishes swimming nearby!

TAST Week 2 - Buttonhole Stitch

I did get my buttonhole stitches completed last week for the Take A Stitch Tuesday challenge. Just didn't get them posted with the contest going on. So far, I'm up to date...just starting stitching the week 3...and will post that later this week.
I'm glad that Sharon is starting out with stitches that are probably familiar to most of us...gives me a chance to get into the "groove" of checking her blog for the weekly lesson!
As you can see from my photos...I'm just doing a little sample card of the stitch..and it will go into a small photo album. Hope to keep it as a kind of stitch diary...then, when my muse gets bored...she can just flip through the pages and try a new stitch!

TAST - Week 1 - Fly Stitch

Take a Stitch Tuesday, Sharon Boggon's wonderful stitching challenge is underway! Week 1 is the FLYSTITCH. This is one that I use to create leaves most often...so it was really interesting to experiment with possible base seams and fillers.

All of my TAST attempts will be linked on a separate page (see menu bar above) so you can check my progress as I go along easily. Thanks to Sharon for a great challenge...and if you have not yet checked out her blog (where have you been!!)...then you should!
