Easter Tree - Saalfeld, Germany

The Kraft family in Saalfeld, Germany has been decorating an easter tree in Volker Kraft's back yard for decades. It started as a sapling with just a few dozen eggs...and as the tree...and the family grew it became hundreds then thousands of eggs.
Each egg is prepared by a family member, most are real (blown) eggs that have been painted, some are crochet, others have glued pearls and sequins. Each is a work of art.
This year, 2012, the Easter Tree will have 10,000 eggs on it! Amazing!
Check out their website. (Click on egg #11 to watch the video of the tree being decorated in 2009.)
All of these photos are borrowed from their website. There are many more there for your viewing.
It's a little early still for Easter eggs...but, never too early for inspiration!
Their decorating starts four weeks prior to Easter Day, and the tree is cleared of eggs one week after Easter.
The beauty is not only in the eggs, or their decorating of the tree...but in the family itself.

Happy Valentines Day

I've been working on some heart applique blocks...and today seems a great day to post a photo. You can see that I have a few to get done...so no chocolate for me today! I have to finish stitching these down to their background squares...and them trim up to size.
I use the "freezer paper" method...it is what I stated with and for simple shapes like this heart...the one I gravitate to for the best results.

Happy Thanksgiving -- Eat Up!

Wishing everyone a day of thanksgiving...as we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday here in the US. And, if you're not here...then wish us all a great holiday by joining in a feast of you own!
Hugs to all!

Happy Father's Day

Hope you all have a great Father's Day today. And, if you still are fortunate enough to have your Dad in your life...please give him an extra hug...and be thankful he is still there.

My dad was not one to give advice in a kind and gentle manner...as Jesus would do. He was more like John Wayne...direct and to the point...with a kind of "in your face" approach.

He only said things once...Once was plenty enough for you to get the point.

Miss you Dad!

Happy Easter!

Thought I'd share some great graphics from the Graphics Fairy with you!
spencejesusgfairy001b
This one is pretty amazing ...miraculous even!! And so perfect for Easter weekend. According to the book it was taken from, this fantastic pen flourished image of Jesus was originally all done with the "single stroke of the pen"!!

These are just too cute!

AND, I also found this post over at We Love Quilting and thought you’d love it too!

“All I need to know, I learned from the Easter Bunny!”
Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.
There’s no such thing as too much candy.
All work and no play can make you a basket case.
A cute tail attracts a lot of attention.
Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.
Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.
Some body parts should be floppy.
Keep your paws off of other people’s jelly beans.
Good things come in small, sugar coated packages.
The grass is always greener in someone else’s basket.
To show your true colors, you have to come out of the shell.
The best things in life are still sweet and gooey.

Hope you have a great Sunday…dye something!
