Freebie Design

Here's a little design I thought you  might enjoy. It was conceived as an SRE design, but could be done in standard embroidery as well.

Freebies for my Followers...

It has become my custom to have a give-a-way when the blog followers number jumps by one-hundred.
 &
We just passed nine hundred! So, I was thinking about what type of contest or give-a-way have. However, the problem with contests is that only one (or a few) folks actually win something. And, I wanted all 900 of the followers to get something.
So, I decided to design a new pattern...just for you!

Shawkl Scissors Pattern Assortment

These were originally only two designs...then they grew into nine designs...then I created smaller designs to go with the larger designs...so they grew into eighteen designs. Well, before they just keep multiplying...I'd better post them! The above picture is of the French Knot design...one of the eight sets.
Eventually, (when I actually have time to stitch one of them for the pattern front page) I'll include a photo on the front of the pattern. But, for now, just consider it a semi-draft because I have no time to stitch more than is already on my plate. Hugs!
Hope you enjoy all of the designs included.
Just click on the link above to get the pattern download free.

Lattice Monogram Pattern

Lately, I've been really interested in different types of monograms. You might have noticed that I've been sharing these as free patterns on my Craftsy page. Well, here is one more for you! These are lattice monograms, and can be used for lot's of embroidery filling stitches. If you reduce them, they would be adorable as pin cushions, scissor fobs, or tiny little giftees. Work a little harder and create them as goldwork on velvet! That would be spectacular!

I decided to create a larger framed piece with silk ribbon for a special frame gifted to me. It will be completed soon and I'll show you the framed work. For now...here is the stitched part anyway!

I just used plain perle cotton and embroidered the letter "S" in stem stitch, then used simple straight stitches to do both directions of the lattice work...lastly, I tacked down the intersections of the lattice with teensy "x" straight stitches.

This ribbon design is also included in the pattern as an oval and as a circle...in two different sizes.

The Owl Family and a Freebie Design

Here's the third design finished and uploaded to Pattern Spot. Aren't they just too cute! I love them, and want to do more designs with owls.

Here's a little freebee which I think would make a cute little applique or embroidery design for a mugrug...or quilt block. Hope you enjoy it! Send me photos when you finish your project, I'd love to see how you are using this.

Monochromatic Round Robin - Mary's Block Update 2 - Plus Free Designs

It is a rainy (still) day and Aidan just left to go back home. School is out in two weeks, and I'm so looking forward to her return for a few days. I managed to get a little stitching done yesterday on Mary's block...so now, you can at least see the dolphin amongst the other fabrics. I decided to go with traditional applique...then outlined the dolphin in stem stitch...and added some swirls on the inside in back stitch. The embroidery work helps to add more contrast and interest since the fabric color has to match the background block...for the monochromatic theme.

Here's the design if you's like to download and keep for your possible future use.

And, here's the same idea in the form of a cat. Just for fun!
I think these would be good worked in beads too. Of course, you know I'd think that!

Jacobean Border Design

Today, I've been "playing" some more with Illustrator. It is fun, and frustrating...at the same time!
This border is sized to print all on a standard sheet of printing paper, but you can enlarge it or reduce it from there of course.
