A Short Video of some Motifs/Techniques Learned in the Free Courses!
Okay, this is a new feeling...I'm not only "caught up" with my CQJP blocks...I'm AHEAD. Okay, okay...I'm only a week ahead as this is the July block...but hey! I'm gonna enjoy this accomplishment...even if it is for just one week!
Here are some closeups for you!
Hugs to all!
Enjoy your stitching!
Susie started this tree skirt as her CQJP2012 project, and I'm so proud of her for finishing it...and it is GORGEOUS! You may have seen photos of it in Pat Winter's magazine...but I asked if I could share the photos that Susie sent to CQJP as her finish here too. If you missed her blocks, you can find them posted on the CQJP2012 blog.
In celebration of her pink skirt (to match her beautiful pink Christmas tree) she just had to have one of my pink spiders too. And although it is too large to work as a CQ spider...it will still find a special home on or under her christmas tree. Now, doesn't this spider just look so proud to be walking on this gorgous tree skirt!? I think so!!
Super great job Susie!!
Today, I finished up two more blocks on my shower curtain project. These, and about a dozen more circles will become a new shower curtain for my bath. Each circle is stitched/beaded based on one of the seams in my Embellishing Crazy Quilts Workbook.
These circles are six inches each. Others are also larger or smaller to create the entire project. Not sure if I'll be done at year's end...as I have a stack of circles still to embroidery...so this year's Crazy Quilt Journal Project might have to encompass next year's project too!
These two circles contain seams #10, #12, #18, #31 and #47. Changes might have been made to the original seam design to fit such a small circle's space limitations.
These will be my May and June entries for the CQJP2013 Challenge.
My challenge to myself this year for the Crazy Quilt Journal Project is to create a large panel with many circles with crazy quilt seams only. The seams will document the designs in Embellishing Crazy Quilts,
and provide me a way to showcase those seams...other than the long
linear sampler I first stitched as the seams were designed. Some seams
have additional beads, or changes to fit the space of the circle.
Eventually, the project will be a shower curtain cover in my bath I'm
thinking....in front of the plastic liner so it won't get wet of course.
Here are the seams by number used in this block:

It was created by Hideko Ishida of Japan. The blocks are from the Crazy Quilt Journal Project 2012, and the journal is her choice of how to display the blocks. I so love it...that I asked her permission to share some photos here on my blog. She graciously agreed...thank you Hideko!
I am just in awe as the professional look of the finished project...and now...yep, my muse wants one too!
But, she will have to wait...as there is way too much work going on in my house now. And my CQJP2013 plans are already underway...but, there will be CQJP2014 to consider!!
Perhaps I can satisfy Ms. Muse with that plan. Doesn't this journal just make you want to stitch!
Glorious! Just glorious!
I love the way the pages are sewn in to a felted spine, and the little eyelet lace at each edge...and the fringe trim to the front and back! Oh, and the little poems and sayings on the back of each page...ingenious! Such a treasure!
This is the last block for this month. I'll post all four of these blocks to the CQJP2013 site soon and complete the challenge for another month. Woot! Woot! It's always nice to accomplish a goal!
Here are the seams from the Embellishing Crazy Quilt book worked on this circle:

Still stitching away on the February CQJP2013 blocks. I'm going to finish four of these small circles for this month, and I'm almost done! Yea! I won't be late...but am sure to be some time this year...Ha! This block includes three more seams from the Embellishing Crazy Quilts book. Here are the closeup photos:
