UFO - Done!

It is great to get an UnFinished Object finally completed! And, especially when it has been sitting in a dresser drawer for two years!...Yep, I admit it...two years! Oh please...that's not AT ALL my oldest UFO. But, that is an entirely different post...for another day! This quilt top is a shadow applique Christmas In July design that I created for HGTV Ladies ...and when the class was over...just didn't finish it by adding the last two borders. So, finally....it is done and ready to head off to the machine quilter for quilting!Woot! CIJ - Round #2

The patterns for Christmas In July...Round #2 are loaded on the Yahoo site in files. Here is a preview of one of the three blocks in this round:

If you want more information on this BOM...or to see a photo of the entire quilt...check out the first post on CIJ in the menu bar on the right. The quilt is done and designed for shadow applique quilt technique...but the patterns are line-drawings so could be done in red work or standard embroidery. Some pattern pieces might be too small for traditional or machine applique...but the design could be adapted or substituted for those specific blocks.

Christmas in July...start early!

A couple of years ago...perhaps even three...I designed a couple of shadow applique quilts for teaching; and I still use them in my college classes. One was a Christmas quilt filled with lot's of holiday memories...and when I brought it to the HGTV Message Board Group...I called it Christmas in July. I think that's the month we started the quilt process. It is still in the same state as this photo shows...still needs an outside border!

 

Oh, I have the borders...all cut out and in the basket with the quilt center...attaching them is just way down on my priority list. The second quilt I mentioned...Bunny in the Pink...is a complete top...and has been basted together...and I will be hand quilting it. So, Christmas will wait.

But, no need for anyone else to have to wait...so, if you'd like to create the quilt...it will be in the files section of the Yahoo Group site. Shawkl_Blog_Files
