Welcome Email and Google/Blogger will send you (at my request) an
Invitation to join the Class Blog where the class will be held.
This is an ON-LINE internet class
You will need to follow some simple
instructions to register and gain access to the private class blog. Your
name and email will need to be entered; but NO social security or
credit card information is required. Just basic information to
"recognize" you as a class participant. We will follow the same process you used in the Basic Class.
This is the first module of the Intermediate level courses; while it does NOT involve a lot of
sewing or piecing...it does involve a lot of thinking! We will cover
Color Theory...and you will select various groups of colors. We will
discuss the various types of designs for piecing CQ blocks...and when to
use the different types of blocks. You will be practicing these designs by applying the
guidelines...and then designing your own blocks on paper. You will sew at least
one block as the last task...using any of the designs covered in the course. So,
while there is not a huge requirement for fabrics, etc...there IS a lot
of thinking that happens.
I'm still working to finish beading the cabochons I have on hand. It will take me weeks to get all of them done...but, I just working a few each day as I have the time/energy.
Just loaded these Peacock Cabochons to my Etsy shop.
Have also gone through my lace motifs and packaged a "mixed baggie" of different motifs. These are great to dye and good selections (especially if you are a new CQ stitcher). Each baggie has these motifs included:
And, because I did not have quite as many of some motifs as I did others...there are two different listings. All include the above grouping...and ONE of these groupings:
These past couple of weeks have been full of doctor's appointments (Mom and me); canning tomatoes and freezing peaches...and making cabochons. Remember cabochons? I made a ton of these the past couple of years (see above photo), but have not had the time so far these past few months. Glad to have been able to get back to these.
Last night I took some pictures and today...loaded them onto my Etsy shop. I hope you'll take a few minutes to go check them out if you live in the US. These are glass buttons, hand-made and hand-painted on the back; the shank is removed and the button is anchored to a thin piece of felt fabric and "encapsulated" with more beads (from Japan). These can be hand sewn directly to a crazy quilt block, purse, or whatever...by couching over the "fringe" that surrounds the cabochon. Or, a tie-tack type closure can be glued to the back if the cabochon is to be used as a brooch...or you just want to remove it easily.
REGISTRATION will remain open until midnight on July 15th (CST)
NOTE: I do not accept late or early registrations for classes...you need
to register within the dates of the open registration period. I'm
sorry, but I just have too much going on to keep up with early or deal
with late registrations.
The FREE class is self-paced, and expected
to take 4-8 weeks, depending on the time you have available to complete
the 12 assigned Tasks.
These 12-Tasks include:
1 - How to Use the Class Blog
2 - Selecting Supplies
3- Design Principles of CQ
4 - Sewing the Block
5 - Surface Beading Techniques
6 - Template Seams
7 - Shape Seams
8 - 11 Various Silk Ribbon Flowers
12 - Finishing (lace, charms, etc.)
The class is FREE, you will not be charged anything for the
instructions. You will need to obtain your own supplies as I do not sale
kits.
Basic CQ supplies include silk ribbon, pearl cotton threads, tiny beads,
etc. as the photo above indicates. None of these are in large quantity
for a single block that measures about the size of a sheet of print paper.
You will be required to use a quilting hoop (Q-snap is fine).
You WILL be required to access the private class blog (upon an
invitation sent to you) and post photos of your work as you progress
through the class.THIS IS AN ONLINE COURSE.

You need to be able to open these handouts/instructions and save them.
You can also print as you desire. In total, the

be required if you want to retain a hard copy of this information.
Hugs, and I hope to see you in the class!
This class is a REQUIRED before you can sign up to any of the Intermediate (ICQC) courses offered throughout the year.
Morning all...I've decided to leave the 30% off sale on the books...and not adjust the price back up after the Independence Day Sale. I'd like to clear out all books from my Etsy page...as I'm working on new stock instead.
Books will continue to be available on Amazon.com of course...which makes my life a bit easier than having to keep up with re-stocking since shipping costs to me have ballooned.
Good morning everyone! In celebration of our Independence Day here in the STATES, I'm having a 30% off sale on my Etsy shop....today and tomorrow! I'll adjust the prices BACK to their regular costs on Tuesday evening...so don't delay.
I have in stock...my Crazy Quilting Volume I "Beyond the Basics" book, my workbook "Embellishing Crazy Quilts", my journal for doodling seams, and emery!
I'm changing my Etsy over the next few weeks...and will not be offering books from this site any longer. Books will only be available from Amazon.com in the future.
So, take advantage of this sale (especially if you don't have these early editions) or want to get early Christmas presents for your quilting family/friends.
Hope everyone has a nice relaxing 4th of July tomorrow!
I'll be shipping orders out on Wednesday...as Tuesday I have appointments scheduled throughout the day.
