You WILL be required to get your own supplies to complete the about 8 x 10 size block.
Basic CQ supplies include silk ribbon, pearl cotton threads, tiny beads,
etc. as the photo above indicates. None of these are in large quantity
for a single block.
You will be required to use a quilting hoop (Q-snap is fine).
You WILL be required to access the private class blog (upon an
invitation sent to you) and post photos of your work as you progress
through the class.
If you are interested in taking this course, please email me at shaw.kathy@yahoo.com and provide me this information:

The email address you wish me to send class instructional handouts to.
After you register, I will send you a Welcome
Email and Google/Blogger will send you (at my request) an Invitation to
join the Class Blog where the class will be held. Watch for BOTH of
these emails, check your spam folder. If you do not receive by Thursday
morning, email me to let me know.
This is an ON-LINE internet class.
You will need to follow some simple instructions
to register and gain access to the private class blog. Your name and
email will need to be entered; but NO social security or credit card
information is required. Just basic information to "recognize" you as a
class participant.
You will need to be able to take a photo of your
work, and upload it to the class blog. You will get instructions on
"blogging" so don't worry if you don't currently do that now; you will
learn.
But, you DO NEED to have an operating camera and be able to take photos.
You do need a basic understanding of how to save these photos and then retrieve those picture files
NOTE: You will be given class handouts/instruction in the form of emails and pdf documents.
The pdf files can be opened with Adobe Reader (free software on the Adobe.com site)
You need to be able to open these handouts/instructions and save them.
You can also print as you desire. In total, the
course contains over 200 pages of information...so paper/printer will
be required if you want to retain a hard copy of this information.
Autumn's breezes are outside of my window at present...so it's hard to think about Spring just yet. BUT, in the publishing business...deadlines are much earlier than in real time. Ha, if not...we would get Christmas magazines in March! So...we need to always be planning ahead...and are doing that with the Spring issue of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine!
Pam Kellogg is busy wrapping up the Winter issue and will be starting on the SPRING issue very soon. So, if you have some "springtime" inspirational photos, projects, or even tutorials...give her a quick email with photo. You can contact Pam through her KittyandMeDesignsBlog.
Space is at times limited...so not all submissions may be accepted for this issue. Or, they may be expanded upon for a larger article as well. So, go through your photo files and share your inspirational Spring photos, fun tutorials, etc.! Pam would love to hear your ideas for the Spring issue as well!
EDITED TO ADD: This registration is now closed (as of 12:00PM CST, 25 Sep)
This is the 4th offering of this class,
REGISTRATION will remain open until midnight on Friday, September 25th
ICQC-103 Embellishing with Threads
This class covers Surface Embroidery Motifs
to include beaded and silk ribbon monograms.
Additional seam treatments are also part of the course.
The class is FREE, you will not be charged anything for the instructions.
Registration for the ICQC-103 requires the completion of the BCQC class first. This is a prerequisite.

Supplies needed for this course include various
colors of embroidery floss and/or perle cotton thread. A pattern will be
provided for the creation of a series of pieced blocks; or you can use
plain fabric and work the items as technique samples only.
You are encouraged to have completed the ICQC-101 class before this one...but it is no longer a "requirement".
My progress has slowed over the summer, but I'm still working at it! The hot weather seems to really play with my CFS and leaves me too tired to think. This cooler Autumn air is such a blessing, and I'm finally beginning to feel more like "myself". Am so far behind in many tasks, have to get some energy soon to get back on track!
This is one of the silkie blocks, so doesn't have as much embroidery in motifs as the others to date...but I tried to add some different roses to this one for more interest.
These Fargo Roses have been "touched" by my ProMarkers in the center and along the ribbon edges to get a variegated effect.
You WILL be required to get your own supplies to complete the different class tasks.

You will need to follow some simple
instructions to register and gain access to the private class blog. Your

"recognize" you as a class participant. We will follow the same process you used in the Basic Class.
This is the first module of the Intermediate level courses; while it does NOT involve a lot of
sewing or piecing...it does involve a lot of thinking! We will cover
Color Theory...and you will select various groups of colors. We will
discuss the various types of designs for piecing CQ blocks...and when to
use which each design. You will be practicing these designs by applying the
guidelines...and then designing your own blocks on paper. You will sew at least
one block as the last task...using any of the designs covered in the course. So,
while there is not a huge requirement for fabrics, etc...there is a lot
of thinking that happens.
The list asks for Kona cotton in white...but any white cotton that is "good enough" for you...is fine for me. Kona is what I consider the best brand for white quilters cotton fabric.
Class begins on 5 September
Please do not post photos before then.
Class photos posted in class should not be uploaded directly to Pinterest from the class blog...as this also uploads a link to the private class site. You can upload your photos from your computer to Pinterest if you like. Some class photos may be chosen to upload to my own Pinterest as advertisement of this course for future attendees...IF you do not wish to have your photos used for this purpose...please just let me know when you register. This is not a "promise" that I will be using photos...just letting you know that it is a possibility down the road.
Once you register, I will send you a welcome email AND you will receive an invitation from Blogger to
join the private Class Blog. Email me if you have any issues in signing
on to the class after receiving these two instructional emails.
NOTE: I will be away from my computer for most of 2 September, so will not begin sending out class blog invitations or Welcome emails...until 3 September at the earliest.
