A Short Video of some Motifs/Techniques Learned in the Free Courses!
Give-A-Way Time!
Look what I found last week hiding in my bead stash! I had tucked these two back for some reason...and forgot about them. So, let's draw and give them to two lucky winners!
The 2 Rules for winning are simple...
1) Leave a comment that answers this question: "What would you do with a four-inch pink beaded spider?"
2) Make sure your comment includes an email address or link to your Blogger profile with email...so I can contact you for a mailing address. No email...and you are disqualified...as I simply do not have the time to "hunt you down".
That's it...just leave a comment..and make sure I can email you if your comment is randomly selected.
The time frame for the give-a-way will be until this Saturday, . So you have until midnight...CST (my time)...Friday, 5 April 2013 to leave your comment. Comments will not appear right away...as I'm still moderating. But, if you leave one...I WILL get it. Make sure I can contact you easily! I'll select two winners at random. Let you know by email if you win...and post the winners on the blog Saturday morning (once you respond to my email asking for your mailing address). Good Luck!
So, who wants a spider?

Hi Kathy,
I just have to say that I love your spiders. They are really beautiful and really original. If I had one I would use it as a brooch. I always wear brooches and have a nice little collection and a beautiful delicate spider would be a great addition to it. What would make it even better would be to be able to tell people that it is handmade and how I came to have it. I just saw your blog for the first time today but have to say you have a new fan in me. :-) P.S. My e-mail address is mickiw13@gmail.com
I love your spiders and if one managed to crawl its way here it would love on the self above my craft table to watch over me.

Hi Kathy, this spiders are really very pretty and I personally would do a kind of a crazy quilt block to be fitted on a canvas as a wall art.
Probably my entire block will be design around a branch with lovely flowers which will make a nice home for this cute spider.
I do believe 4 inch is a bit big to wear it as a jewellery.
Anyway I would give you my email address here

How fabulous -- I agree, what a wonderful brooch!
Wow! They're beautiful. If I was lucky enough to win one I would attach it to an hat I have that was made in 1916. Bet that would get a few comments, and yes, I do wear the hat. Blessings.

If I were the lucky winner, I would take the spider to school for my spider unit. I think maybe I could get more of the girls interested in nonfiction books if they could see a pretty spider!

Very cute spiders. I think I would use one as a brooch or put it on one of my Red Hats. Thanks for the chance to win.
Just discovered your blog today. Now a fan.
Oh, I would make them into earrings and wear them! They are beautiful!

You know I love your spiders because I have five of them! I use them as Christmas ornaments. I was supposed to gift them to my kids but they were so beautiful I couldn't part with them. I would definetely give these to my daughters.
I think I'll hang it from an invisible thread from the ceiling in my pink sewing room!
I love your spiders! If I were a lucky winner, the spider will sit on my sewing table watching over me while I play.
OMG girl .... I know EXACTLY what I will do with that spider. She will reside "front and center" on my PINK Christmas Tree Skirt. I will stitch a Kreinik very fine braid pink spider web for her (to make her feel right at home). You must admit it is destiny for me to win a "pink" spider (made by the originator of CQJP) to place as the finishing touch of my "pink CQJP" project!! hehehe

I would first hold it for a while just to enjoy the workmanship, then it would go into my curio. I would want it safe from small visiting hand and accessible for when I wanted to hold and enjoy again.
Oh my what would I do with the spiders. certainly not squash them flat but put them of a deliecate piece of lace and on a CQ square for my collection. fingers crossed that I win.

Not doing photography any more just to lazy to change my email. xoxoxox
I think I would put it on the poodle piece that I am working on someplace or perhaps hanging from my tree on my "rooster" piece. They are quite beautiful. Have a great day.

Kathy, I would leave it in various places around the house to scare the bee-jee-zees out of my hubby. He's 6'6" with a size 16 shoe and is petrified of the little beasts! I just catch them and put them outside while he squeals like a little girl! Such fun it would be to set the beaded one about...lots of laughs!
So easy .. I'd give it to my oldest daughter who is trying to overcome her fear of spiders. Her husband has named the 2 spiders that live outside in their arbor, Esmerelda and Brumhilda, in the knowledge that creatures that have names don't get killed. :-)
She still gives the arbor a wide berth. :_)
I had to laugh at Louise's comment about scaring her hubby. I scared the crap out of my ex once with a Dollar Tree rubber spider on a pump. He always slept on his back so one night I let him get almost asleep and then I put it on his belly and went to pumping. The spider crawled up his belly. He came alive and went to cussing BIG words...what you talking about.. BEST darn dollar I EVER spent in my life! haha!!
If I were to be so lucky as to win your beautiful spider, I would hang it from the ceiling in my sewing room next to Loi's witch dotee doll that she made for me.
And thanks to Cathi... I now know what color I want to paint my sewing room!!! A beautiful soft pink!!!!!!!
Now I just gotta have a spider... :)
I love your spiders. I bought one for my sister some time ago and would love to win one. I would wear it as a necklace like the one I gave my sister. These are so lovely.
Your pink spiders are beautiful. I would love to win one and use it as inspiration to make some from my wonderful bead stash. I am always giving my items away and these would be very fun to share. Thank you for this opportunity. Happy Hearts are Creative Hearts...
I loved reading the comments and laughed often. I have spiders displayed all over my house, including one of yours. I have your tutorial and intend to make some of my own.
I love the ideas of hanging a spider from the ceiling or adding one to a hat.
I am updating my foyer with a shelf and a mirror. I would put the spider on the shelf to inform visitors that spiders are sacred in my space.

I would simply love the pretty thing and allow it to wander here and there in my house!
Oh my what beautiful spiders!! I have a wall dedicated to breast cancer, on the wall she would go!!
My email is groovypixie@gmail.com
Thank you!!
what would I do with a 4inch pink spider? hmmmmm. I would wear it with pride........thanks, molly //sewnmom7@yahoo.com
Hi kathy,
I love your spiders. If I won one I would hang it in my sewing room, and when I wanted I could wear it as a broch.
I would use them on my lastest project _ threadroll up. They are very cute. Thanks for the chance to win.
Hi Kathy!
Your spiders are gorgeous. And while I would LOVE to have a spider all to myself, if I won one of your beautiful creations, I would give it to a friend of mine. She is terribly afraid of real spiders and maybe this one might help her learn to realize that not all spiders are bad spiders!
Thanks,
Nina

I really like your spiders. I would like to say that I would use it on a crazy quilt but I really think I would display it in my sewing room where everyone would see and go ooh and aaah.

Stunning!
Id make a special webby block for her to live on and have it mounted up for my room wall!
Your insects are always so fascinating .......
you have a magic imagination and produce such beautiful creatures!
I would add them to my daughters wallhanging that I am in the process of making. It is hot pink and black done in the style of skulls. A pink spider would be perfect.
Mary in Oregon
I love your spiders Kathy. I am working on 2 of Pat Winters Boho Bags for a quilt show in May/June. They would end up on the bags!
These are so nice. I would give this as a gift to a friend who has a spider fetish - after I enjoy it for a few days first.
